Before working on a website, as a professional SEO agency, we conducted a website audit to check the exact causes which caused Atlanta Kilt’s rankings in SERP to dwindle and poor SEO performance:

One of the major problems was their Google’s Search Console and Analytics accounts, which were not maintained properly. It all led to gaps in data tracking, making it difficult to assess the website’s performance and issues.
The website’s existing robots.txt file wasn’t optimized, which led to one thing: the search engines’ inability to find and understand the website by crawling all the necessary pages effectively.
Also, when it comes to technical issues, the website’s XML sitemap was outdated. This made it difficult for the search engines to discover new content. Regular updates are essential for effective crawling and indexing.
Meta tags and headings were absent from many webpages, and search engine relies on these two crucial elements to understand the page content and rank it appropriately.
Implementing schema markup was a significant challenge for different types of content, like FAQs and product pages. This affected search engines’ ability to distinguish the content structure and display it in a proper format.
We utilized tools like Screaming Frog to identify potential problems. The tool detected a significant technical issue: a canonicalization error, which meant duplicate content.
The website lacked SEO-optimized, professionally written content and FAQs, so our Magento 2 SEO service team understood that content revamping would also be required.
Another technical problem was that the mega menu was not working properly on mobile devices. This usability issue affected the experience of users who prefer to open the website using their smartphones.
