Challenges

Design for a Reward-Winning Global Brand

The website needed to reflect the prestige of an award-winning, globally recognized brand. The challenge was to design a highly engaging and visually premium Shopify Plus experience that communicates trust, craftsmanship, and global reach while maintaining ease of navigation across multiple product categories.

Complex Mega Menu Structure

Vuba offers a wide range of products — aggregates, kits, binders, tools, and accessories. Designing a custom mega menu to clearly represent each category, while keeping it manageable and flexible for the admin team, was a major design and technical challenge.

 

Product Page with Advanced Functionalities

Each product required a custom layout to display details like ‘What’s in the Kit’, ‘Request a Quote’, and ‘Order a Sample’ options. Balancing information clarity, conversion goals, and aesthetic consistency across hundreds of SKUs required a dynamic and modular product page structure.

Separate Cart for Quote Requests

Unlike standard eCommerce flows, the client wanted a dedicated Quote Request Cart, separate from the regular cart. This required a custom-built functionality where users can select multiple products, submit a quote request, and receive confirmation emails — all without conflicting with the standard Shopify cart.

Complex Custom Shipping Matrix

Shipping rates were based on weight, volume, and packaging type (e.g., box, pallet). Shopify’s default shipping logic could not accommodate these variations, so a custom shipping app was required to dynamically calculate rates according to the product’s properties and destination.

Smart Cart Recommendations

On the Cart Page, users needed to see related or complementary products (e.g., kits, binders, or aggregates) to encourage upsells. This required logic that dynamically displays recommendations based on the items currently in the cart.

Custom Checkout Experience

Using Shopify Plus Checkout Extensibility, a custom delivery date picker was added to the checkout flow. This allowed customers to select preferred delivery dates based on availability and location, improving transparency and user experience.

Training Products with Unique Layouts

The site offers training programs for installers. A separate template was needed for these products, allowing customers to view schedules, details, and book training sessions directly through the website.

Custom CMS Pages and Forms

The website required multiple custom CMS templates and forms for informational and conversion-oriented pages, including: ‘Become a Distributor’, ‘Find an Installer’, ‘Book a Training Course’, and ‘Contact Sales’. Each page needed to be visually cohesive and easy to manage from the admin panel.

Performance Optimization & Brand Experience

Given the site’s scale and global audience, achieving top-tier performance while maintaining a luxury aesthetic was a key challenge. A mobile-first approach, SEO optimization, and best coding practices were essential to ensure smooth performance across devices.

Third-Party Integrations

The site needed seamless integrations with third-party systems including Klaviyo (for email marketing automation) and Unleashed (for inventory and order management). These integrations had to work flawlessly with the custom checkout and quote workflows.

Custom Shopify Plus Theme Design

We created a bespoke Shopify Plus theme that perfectly reflects Vuba’s premium brand image. The design showcases beautiful visuals, a clean interface, and intuitive navigation to deliver an elegant and high-performing user experience.

Advanced Mega Menu System

A fully custom mega menu template was developed, allowing the admin to easily add, edit, and manage categories and subcategories directly from the Shopify dashboard. The structure supports dynamic product groupings and visual category highlights.

Enhanced Product Page Templates

Custom product page templates were built to include functionalities like ‘Request a Quote’, ‘Order a Sample’, and ‘What’s in the Kit’ sections. This ensured customers can explore detailed product information and engage with the brand in multiple ways.

Custom Quote Request App

A Shopify custom app was developed to handle the quote request functionality. Users can add multiple products to a quote cart, and the system sends a detailed summary via email to both the admin and the customer. Admins can manage quote submissions efficiently from the backend.

Custom Shipping App for Complex Rates

We built a custom Shopify Plus shipping app to calculate shipping based on product weight, volume, and packaging (box, pallet, etc.). The app dynamically determines rates and options during checkout, providing accurate and transparent shipping costs.

Intelligent Cart Recommendations

The cart page was customized to display contextual product suggestions based on the items added. This feature encourages customers to complete their kit with relevant products and improves average order value.

Checkout Customization

Leveraging Shopify Plus Checkout Customization, we integrated a delivery date selector, allowing customers to choose a preferred delivery slot. This enhanced checkout experience helps reduce post-order queries and improves delivery coordination.

Dedicated Template for Training Products

We created a separate product layout for training programs, with functionality to view details, availability, and book training sessions directly. The layout aligns with the rest of the brand design but highlights the educational offering distinctly.

Custom CMS Templates and Dynamic Forms

Multiple custom CMS templates and interactive forms were built for lead-generation pages like ‘Become a Distributor’ and ‘Join as an Installer’. Each form is tied to internal workflows for automated email notifications and data capture.

SEO and Performance Optimization

We optimized theme code, compressed media, and used lazy loading to achieve faster load times and better Core Web Vitals scores. The layout was designed mobile-first, ensuring smooth performance and accessibility across devices.

Integration with Klaviyo & Unleashed

Integrated Klaviyo for automated marketing workflows and Unleashed for real-time inventory and order management. Both systems were configured to work seamlessly with the store’s custom quote and shipping solutions.
