Challenges

  • The existing website is built on an outdated technology stack that cannot meet all client requirements. Enhancing the site with new functionalities is challenging due to the limitations of the current platform.
  • The client wants to redesign the entire site to provide a seamless buying experience, featuring product representation that enables users to easily explore and select various options. The redesign will include a unique layout for product pages, a smoother checkout experience, and a mega menu that categorizes products by type, size, and origin, with distinctive designs for each item.
  • On the category page, the client wants to display product size options as individual products. On the product page, all available size options will be presented for selection, and the product with specific size option selected by the customer on the category page will be highlighted. Additionally, two images will be displayed: one showing the product itself and the other showing the selected product option. These images will be positioned above and below each other, creating a distinctive feature.
  • There will be two customer groups: retail and wholesale, each with distinct functionalities. Wholesale customers will need to log in to their accounts to purchase products, and they will see pricing specific to their group. Retail customers will view standard pricing.
  • To apply for a wholesale account, customers must fill out a form with their business details, enabling the site owner to verify their status as a wholesaler and gather all necessary information.
  • Different shipping options will be available for retail and wholesale customers. Each customer group will see their respective shipping options during checkout admin will able to configure the options in the backend.
  • Customers will be able to purchase gift cards in various amounts, customize the design, preview it, and share the gift card. Additionally, they can schedule the gift card to be sent to the recipient on a specific date.
  • Client also requires a smooth checkout process, ensuring that customers could complete their purchases quickly and without confusion. This focus on simplicity and ease of use with positive experience.

Solution

  • Based on the client’s requirements and the level of customization needed, our expert e-commerce consultant has recommended using Magento as the website platform. Magento allows developers to enhance and extend default functionality with custom code and implement new features through custom extensions. Additionally, Magento’s built-in functionality for customer groups and group-specific pricing makes it an ideal choice for this project.
  • To achieve a unique design, seamless buying experience, and effective representation of products and size options, we recommended a custom UI/UX design. Our dedicated designers crafted a UI/UX that not only met the client’s specifications but was also highly praised by them.
  • Our expert Magento developers have created a custom theme to enhance the UI/UX designed by our team. Our frontend developers ensured that the design looks excellent on all devices and meets expectations for responsiveness and visual appeal.
  • A custom Mega Menu extension has been developed to display various product options with unique designs for each menu item. This extension allows the admin to add, update, and remove menu items and images, as well as select different layouts for each menu option.
  • To display product sizes as individual items on the category page and aggregate size options on the product page, we utilized Magento’s configurable products functionality. We customized this setup to disable the main configurable product on the category page. Instead, selecting an individual size option will open the main configurable product page with the specific size option highlighted, along with other size options and images of both the selected size and the main product.
  • For retail and wholesale customer groups, we utilized Magento’s default functionality to create two distinct customer groups. We customized the system to set specific product options and pricing for the wholesale group, as well as to apply various discount rules.
  • Magento’s default registration form does not include all the fields required for wholesale customer registration. We leveraged Magento’s extension capabilities to create a small extension that adds additional fields to the registration form. This allows the admin to review and approve or decline applications.
  • For shipping options based on customer groups, we developed a custom extension that enables the admin to add, update, and remove different shipping options. The extension also allows the admin to select the customer groups for which each shipping option will be displayed.
  • For the gift card product options, we used a third-party gift card extension that allows customers to purchase gift cards in various amounts, customize their design, and share them. This extension also supports scheduling the delivery of the gift card to the recipient on a specific date.
  • To ensure a smooth and efficient checkout process, we implemented a one-step checkout extension. This extension enables customers to complete their purchase quickly and easily, providing a seamless and intuitive buying experience.
